Leaders need to
bring troops home

Recently, after much delay, President Bush announced his new strategy for the war in Iraq. Unfortunately, this so-called strategy is actually more of the same thing - only it commits more U.S. troops to a region being devoured by a civil war.
It is unconscionable that more American soldiers will lose their lives in a last ditch effort that Bush knows won't work. There is no good reason to escale the war, unless you're a president whose poll numbers are sagging.
Bush needs to explain to the American people how his latest plan differs from his previous stay-the-course policies - all of which have failed. I whole-heartedly support the efforts of Democratic leaders to move toward bringing troops home, and giving responsibility to the Iraqi people for their future.

Bush plan foolish

President Bush has announced he will escalate the war in Iraq by sending more troops into the civil war.
The president's plan ignores the American people who voted for change in November, and who continue to demand we bring our troops home. It seems to me that over the past few weeks, the military, the generals, the independent panels appointed by the president, and almost everyone involved in the situation has said that increasing the number of troops will not help the situation. Why then would the president go against the recommendations of his top advisors? This clearly is a
political ploy, and it must be stopped before more American lives are lost.
Democrats like Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid should continue to question the president over this foolish plan, and do whatever needs to be done to stop it in Congress. The people made their voices heard, and if the president isn't going to listen, the Democratic Congress will.

All for what?

March 19, 2007 will mark the fourth anniversary of George W. Bush's declaration of war on Iraq ... and for what I ask. We all know now that there were no "weapons of mass destruction" to be found. We know where they are. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghadad and east, west, osuth and north somewhat, although Donald Rumsfeld would have had us believe otherwise, as stated by his unintelligible quote, back in March of 2003.      continued
